Dass Pokémon GO Chicago Fest lief alles andere als gut. Server waren überlastet und Mobilfunk-Anbieter konnten die Bandbreite nicht tragen. Verägrerte Spieler buhten Niantic CEO John hanke von der Bühne. Als Entschädigung gab es für alle Teilnehmer zumindest Lugia, die Rückerstattung der Tickets und 100$ in PokéCoins.

Dennoch finden fast zwei Dutzend Teilnehmer, dass diese Entschädigung nicht genug ist. Einige sind sogar interkontinental gereist, um an dem Event teil zu nehmen - und diese Kosten soll Niantic laut den Klägern erstatten:

"We’re not seeking any relief with respect to the failure to get legendary Pokémon, because Niantic is offering that. But Niantic is not offering to refund people’s travel expenses for coming to Chicago. Most of the people came from out of state, many people from other countries — I talked to someone who flew in from Japan.

The issue is, what was promised, what was the incentive that people relied on and the representations that people relied on to buy a ticket and make travel plans and fly to Chicago to participate in this festival, would they have done that had they known that that was not going to be lived up to and they weren’t going to get the experience that was represented"

Nach diesen Nachrichten wurden auch einige der europäischen Events verschoben: Das Safari-Event in Kopenhagen und Prag am 5. August und jene in Stockholm und Amsterdam am 12. Events ab dem 14. August werden nicht verschoben. Ein Erstaztermin folgt noch. Als Entschädigung soll es Pokémon, die man in Europa bisher nicht fangen konnte (bspw. Kangama, Skaraborn, Vorasson, Porenta und Tauros) auch in anderen Städten auftauchen.

Was haltet ihr von den Entwicklungen? Haben die Kläger Recht? Oder hat Niantic alles Menschen Mögliche getan?
