Occasional Nintendo Life contributor Liam Robertson has passed us some information from a source that has access to prototype hardware for the 'NX'. They've advised that the images 'aren't legit', and we're certainly inclined to have faith in that source. Of course, as is the nature with rumours they are all to be taken with a grain of salt.

Neue Gerüchte zu Nintendo NXNX

Und wieder gibt es Gerüchte zur neuen Konsole von Nintendo. So postete ein AAA Entwickler, welcher über ein NX-DevKit verfügt, ein paar interessante News. Natürlich ist wieder alles als Gerücht zu betrachten, aber der Juni rückt ja immer näher:
Our devkits controller:

- Doesnt have an oval screen. Ours is a standard rectangle.
- Has physical buttons with a screen behind them. It doesnt have a form shifting screen, nor does it have a touchscreen with haptic feedback.
- Is hardwired to the devkit, which looks like a boring black box with some USB ports and a disc drive.
- However, that fake does get a couple things right. It does have scroll wheel shoulder buttons, but in addition to them it also has two regular shoulder buttons labeled ZL and ZR. It also has a headphone jack in the bottom of the controller.

Some other things I can tell you:

- I dont know if the NX is backwards compatible with the Wii U or 3DS or not, but it doesnt look like it is. The system is different enough from both that I think it would be hard to play games from other consoles.
- The controller is sort of a game system in its own, but its not a replacement for the 3DS. It works like a companion app on a phone, and you can take it with you and control some things from your game, like how the VMU on the Dreamcast let you take a Chao with you and train it.
- No one outside Nintendo knows what the NXs name is. Its still the NX here internally.

Die werden so schnell enttarnt, dass gar nicht erst Spass am Spekulieren aufkommt.

Die haben ja gar keine Chance sich erst mal vernünftig zu verbreiten und für Diskussionen zu sorgen.

Rumour: Metroid Coming To NX This Year?

Tilmen from Tilmendomination has heard from a source that there’s currently a Metroid game in development for the Nintendo NX and it’s heading to the system at launch this year. Tilmen has heard that we will see the first trailer at E3 2016 and a special announcement on August 6th (30th anniversary). I think if this is legitimate then it’s safe to assume that it is being developed by Retro Studios who haven’t produced a game since the brilliant Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze in 2014. I guess we shall find out for sure at E3 which takes place in June this year.

Update: Going to leave this here rather than making a new post. NeoGAF’s 10k has posted more rumors about the NX (thanks Yolkghost). They’ve been verified by a moderator supposedly, but that doesn’t make them true necessarily. In any case, read the rumors here if you’re interested.

New tweets from Emily Rogers indicate that four Wii U ports are currently in development for NX. We’ve already heard plenty of speculation about the new Zelda as well as some talk about Smash Bros. However, Super Mario Maker and Splatoon could hit the new system, too. But Rogers cautions:

“Just because something is in development doesn’t mean it’ll be released. So either all four of these ports will come…or only two of them.”

Emily says that Zelda and Smash Bros. “sound like guarantees” after speaking “with at least 10 people regarding these four ports.” Splatoon is said to be “up in the air.”
