Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney most likely coming to Europe

It's not a formal announcement, nor is it a guarantee, but it looks like Level-5 is moving forward on a European release of Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney. Speaking at the Japan Expo, a French convention dedicated to Japanese pop culture, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino had this to say on the possibility of the game seeing release in France:

Hoffentlich kommt es noch! Auch wenn es angeblich nicht ganz so super geworden ist, sondern "nur" gut! Hier ein paar Comments:

35 / 40 from Famitsu? Hmm. I’m surprised it wasn’t higher – they seem to hand out points like so much candy.

Darauf:

I think Vs. was the weakest game for both series. 35/40 seems appropriate, even generous, as I had to force myself to keep playing it.

As a huge Ace Attorney fan that has played every game including the spin-offs, it was a disappointment. I enjoyed the first Layton game, but lost interest playing the subsequent sequels, so the Layton-heavy style didn’t work for me. The story was also very Layton-like, with fantasy themes throughout that got in the way of logical court cases (“Actually, that was possible in this world since we have magic!”). My girlfriend is the opposite and is a huge Layton fan, but was disappointed by the story and uninspired puzzles, and has quit playing altogether.

The Japanese voices were quite awful for the Ace Attorney characters, especially Phoenix. They opted to use the actor that played the character in the live-action movie, and it was obvious he was an amateur when it came to voice acting. It was especially noticeable when alongside Professor Layton’s lines.

It’s certainly better than some games out there, but it wasn’t the magical formula that made it better than the individual games combined. I would rather play an Ace Attorney or a Professor Layton game. Level-5’s attention should be finishing Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies and Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, and save Vs. for when there’s some down time.

Andererseits:

I actually disagree, it was a brilliant game and it has a really interesting storyline, however i agree that some of the puzzles were way too easy. Being a fan of both series, i loved it generally. It has such a beautiful orchestrated soundtrack, it’s just like a nostalgia overload.

Die obigen Meinungen sind natürlich auch nicht repräsentativ. Das Spiel ist sicherlich sehr gut. Ich freue mich jedenfalls wie ein Schnitzel darauf, wenn es (hoffentlich) bald auf Englisch erscheint!
